Hear from Our Drivers: Black and Chrome Salutes

on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Awards & Recognition

At TMC, our drivers often send Black and Chrome salutes to recognize each other for doing a good deed or providing great service for a customer. During Driver Appreciation Week, we wanted to highlight just a few of the many salutes we’ve received this year that prove our drivers really are the flat-out best.

From Sopal Nhiem to Michael Fereya:

"Want to give a special shout out to this driver for being an outstanding colleague! Six AM at the consignee, while finishing up being unloaded, Michael came to check up on me. He got to know me, provided great tips and insights, helped me roll up my four-inch straps, and even demonstrated and trained me on how to replace mudflaps. Please acknowledge Michael for being excellent and going above and beyond. Thank you. #TMC Proud"

From Amanda Prong to Charles Stewart:

"He happily helped me back into a spot at Silver Grove, was very friendly, and showed me there's no predicament we get ourselves into that we cannot get ourselves out of! All with a smile on his face! Drivers who don't mind stopping what they are doing to assist another driver are top-tier drivers!"

From Jonathan Howell to Blake Masker:

"Driven and determined individual. He’s neat and clean and has a great system for his trainees, which is very important when a new driver like myself comes into this industry. It can be hard out here in this field, and sometimes it’s nice to have a friendly reminder to stay hydrated or stay a break if fatigued. Sometimes we need a stern but friendly voice to be there to let us know we’re still human and it’s ok to slow it down a bit. That’s what Blake is to me."

From Michael Lavan to Chris Argay:

"Not only did this fine gentleman take the time out of his day to teach me another way to steel tarp, he helped close the gaps in my own knowledge with steel tarping, and he gave me a hand with putting the bungees on. This was all before he even thought to work on his own load. He was also just a very pleasant, kind, and fun guy to be around. Thanks, Chris!"

From Randall Tadlock to Donna Jones:

"She let me unload ahead of her, since my clock was running and hers hadn’t started yet. She also spotted me while backing in and helped me untarp, unstrap, and fold my tarps. Very nice driver. Pleasant to be around."

From Keyon Demps to Matthew Line:

"I faced challenges with drop and hook due to my truck height being too high. Matthew promptly came to my aid and resolved the issue effortlessly. A great demonstration of the values TMC appreciates in its fleet."

From Patrick Umphries to Devante Matthews:

"I’m four months out from training with Devante. I must say that I feel like he truly set me up for success! As I complete my advanced Total Quality Management training and plan to do train the trainer, I stay in contact with him for advice, and he continues to go above and beyond to ensure everyone coming out of that truck is the best driver they can be! From having a comfortable living space for his trainees, to how he talks to you throughout a block of instruction, to how he explains what, why, and how he does his day-to-day when running solo to optimize your success."
