David Emerson Named Driver of the Quarter for Q2

Congratulations to David Emerson on being named Driver of the Quarter for quarter 2 of 2023!

David is a linehaul driver who has driven for TMC for 12 years, with over 40 total years of experience as a professional truck driver. “I’ve enjoyed my career,” he says. “It’s gotten me out and about.”

David credits his success at TMC in part to his wealth of professional driving experience and the training he has received throughout his career. “I’ve had a lot of training focusing on safety,” he says. “That’s helped me to be successful.” With more than 1.4 million safe miles, David values safety more than anything when he drives. “Never get in a hurry,” he advises. “Keep track of your space and visibility, and if it’s not safe, shut it down.”

David also says that his fleet manager of eight years, Glenda Miller, is another reason he has had such a great career at TMC. “She’s wonderful for putting up with me,” he laughs. “I just think the world of her.”

Over his time as a driver, David has seen a lot of changes in the trucking industry. When asked what advice he has for new drivers, he says, “Stick with it. I used to think, ‘I can’t do this.’ But it gets easier. It does.”

David lives in Fort Worth, TX, with his wife of 45 years. They have three children and six grandchildren whom he enjoys spending time with.

TMC’s Driver of the Quarter is selected based on the following criteria: safe driving record, years of service, and excellence in customer service. Each quarter’s winner is then eligible to be a future Wheel Master, the highest honor given to drivers at TMC to recognize the best of the best among a fleet of impressive drivers.
