Connie Spotts Named Employee-Owner of the Quarter for Q3 of 2024

Over the past three years, Account Executive Connie Spotts has become the LTL (less-than-truckload) expert at TMC—and a major force in the growth of TMC’s LTL service line. Read on to learn more about Connie, her impact at TMC, and why she was chosen as Employee-Owner of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2024.
Success with Customers
Connie brought almost a decade of experience in the LTL space when she joined TMC Logistics in March 2021, and this expertise has allowed her to expand TMC’s LTL service line.
Some of this LTL growth has been thanks to her outstanding customer service skills and her commitment to doing whatever it takes for her customers. “She’ll call terminals, track down freight, and solve problems for customers. She’ll bulldog things,” says Keith Chyla, Vice President of Logistics Sales.
Cameron DeVaux, General Manager, Strategic Sourcing, adds that Connie takes the time to help customers understand LTL fee schedules and accessorial charges, which can be confusing. “She explains charges and helps clients find new strategies and ways they can potentially mitigate those charges on future loads. She’s so patient, and she’s always respectful—she’s just great with everyone.” As Ben Beaver, Regional Vice President of Business Development, says, “The LTL world brings with it a lot of headaches, but Connie always has a smile on her face and a can-do attitude.”
Connie has also been instrumental in spearheading the adoption of TMC’s LTL platform, which has streamlined LTL service for both the TMC team and our customers. “She is the voice and face customers see when they are working on getting set up to log in to the platform, working through issues, etc.,” says Jen Kottka, Regional Sales Executive.
Connie has done countless demos and walkthroughs with customers to help them learn how to make the platform work for their business, and she has even created how-to guides and one-pagers for them to refer to. “Connie is the expert on the platform,” Keith explains.
Helping the TMC Team Succeed
Connie has also harnessed her expertise to empower her coworkers and educate them about the ins and outs of LTL shipping. In addition to fielding questions from logistics sales representatives and other account executives on a daily basis, she also offers trainings for the TMC team about LTL and has created reference materials for them to use as they work with customers.
“I think she must have been a teacher in a past life,” Cameron jokes. “She’s done such a great job of leading trainings for the entire team, and she’s the one people go to with questions about LTL.”
Connie’s work has not only helped everyone at TMC Logistics become more knowledgeable, but it has also made them better able to offer LTL services to customers.
Making a Difference for the Bottom Line
Connie’s hard work in the LTL space has definitely paid off, particularly in 2024. Where LTL used to be a small part of TMC’s business, Connie’s dedication and expertise have led to a massive increase in the number of LTL loads TMC handles and incredible growth in revenue.
“If you gave me 10 more Connies, I could take over the world,” Keith laughs. “She’s just great to work with.”
Cameron agrees. “Connie has an entrepreneurial mindset. She shows up every day expecting to get everything done. There’s never a question with Connie. She goes the extra mile. I appreciate everything Connie does and what she’s taught me.”
